The most useful tool you can have in your toolbox, June 12, 2013
This review is from: The 30 Day Guide to Paleo Cooking: Entire Month of Paleo Meals (Paperback)
It seems that almost daily a new Paleo Book comes out on the market. Whether it is printed, an ebook, or kindle they are popping up all over the place. Through the sea of resources, the truly passionate, dedicated, and selfless authors create much bigger waves that travel further. As that last sentence resonates in your brain, it is important to understand that those waves are bigger and last longer because that are packed full of QUALITY INFORMATION.

Hayley and Bill have been in this Paleo book movement since the beginning and built a solid foundation with their best seller Make it Paleo: Over 200 Grain Free Recipes For Any Occasion and soon to be best seller Gather, the Art of Paleo Entertaining. This amazing new book has done nothing less than fortified their already bulletproof base. The passion, sweat, and tears that went into this invaluable resource is evident with every page turn. This book on it’s own has the power to change the world and make it a healthier place. Couple that with their earlier referenced Cookbooks that deserve to be in an art show and you have a insurmountable number of recipes to conquer. Something in the ballpark of 400 simple yet elegant recipes that once started will create an unstoppable snowball that is rolling towards a healthier you in all aspects of life.

This book is broken down into 3 parts so you don’t have to read cover to cover, you can use this as your health transformation bible.

Part 1: This covers the basics of the Paleo diet. Everything you need to know to attack this full on with confidence. How do you build a meal? How do you go grocery shopping? What can you eat and drink? What sort of ingredients do you need to stock my kitchen? They took every frequently asked question over the years and addressed all the common fears leaving you with nothing but peace.

Part 2: This provides the actual meal plan, which guides you through your first 30 days of Paleo. This isn’t meant to be trial by fire in the kitchen. Rather, the meal plan is geared towards busy people who need to find the balance between creating delicious AND easy meals. This section contains easy-to-follow weekly meal plans accompanied by handy shopping lists, all of which are available as tear-outs in the back of the book.

Part 3: This part of the book is a presentation of 75 of their best new recipes, which are squeaky-clean Paleo. You won’t find any desserts or sweet treats in this book. The recipes are tasty, easy to execute, and won’t put a strain on your wallet either. They have put a lot of thought into the recipes, and hope it shows.

So in closing, and to save you the brain power needed to read anymore, do I think you should buy this book?

YES, YES, and YES. Yes I did just yell at you and yes I mean it. This book is not constrained to the paleo community. It can be used to help guide anyone who wants to embark on or continue their journey towards optimum health. Give it as a gift to family, friends or co-workers and watch their lives change before your eyes knowing you are responsible for adding quality years to their lives. Maybe they will even cook dinner for you :)

Just received my copy today. I have all three of their books. Make it Paleo: Over 200 Grain Free Recipes For Any Occasion and Gather, the Art of Paleo Entertaining

This book is a great addition to the series. Very easy to follow, amazing pictures that make your mouth water and simple easy to follow recipes.

The book is broken into three parts.

Part I – What is Paleo, is a great overview about Paleo. It answers all the main questions about what you can and shouldn’t eat. It pretty much covers everything any beginner or long time Paleo eater needs to know.

Part II – Is the 30 day meal plan. It is very easy to follow, they give you a shopping list and a meal plan for each week of your thirty days. It is well planned out and super easy to follow. They don’t use hard to find items or crazy grocery stores. Most markets will carry these items from my experience.

Part III – This is where it gets great. Each meal is described with easy to follow recipes accompanied by the most amazing food photography I have ever seen. What is so great is that they are easy to follow, I can make the dinners and not worry about having all the stuff or pans I may need.

This book has encouraged me to do another 30 day challenge. I consider myself approx 80/20 Paleo eating. But Bill and Hayley have encouraged me to get back to 100% Paleo.

I am an avid Crossfitter, I have encouraged my wife to eat clean and we also have our 16 month old child eating clean. No artificial puffs or sugars.

I highly suggest this this book to anyone interested in learning more about Paleo and giving it a try. You will not be disappointed and you will feel the difference in your body.

There are so many awesome things about going Paleo. Weight loss, consistent energy, better skin, a relative sense of superiority to the common eaters. But it certainly requires a significant investment of your time for learning and cooking compared to what you had been spending on eating . This inevitably leads to the routine of grilled chicken and steamed broccoli diet. Which isn’t really paleo. Enter “the 30 Day Guide to Paleo Cooking” by Hayley Mason and Bill Staley.
Bill and Hayley answer all of your FAQs about how to get started on eating Paleo, from shopping, to recipes, to how to make the best use of your leftovers in their 30 day meal plans. Everyday we get asked , “How do I get started? Is this Paleo? What do I do for breakfast?” With their new book, Hayley and Bill have answered those questions and more. You’d be hard pressed to find a more succinct and useful guide to getting yourself started towards a lifetime of good health through damn good eating.

The author carefully explains the historical background to the Paleo diet (also known as the caveman diet), the philosophy guiding the food choices and allowed combinations, the many benefits as well as a complete 7-day meal plan.

The book is well researched, and provided me with just the right level and volume of information for me to get started with the Paleo diet. So far, I have tried out two of the recipes (Fancy Chicken Salad, and Avocado and Bacon Omelet), which I can honestly say were a) easy to make and b) very tasty – just as promised on the cover.

Would have loved to see a few more pictures of the lovely food in the book.

The book is well edited and structured, it does not contain grammatical errors or spelling mistakes. The language is jargon free and easy to understand by anyone.

In short, Paleo for Beginners is a well written, tasty and informative guide for those who want to know more and who may want to try out the Paleo diet for the first time.

The Paleo Diet is a hot topic. As a healthcare practitioner and health fanatic for more than forty years, I find the information helpful and well researched. I especially like how the author speaks to specific conditions and age groups as well as other fad programs, offering readers a chance to make wise choices based on fact not emotions.
My only criticism lies in the recipes. I would not use any of the sweeteners, most especially agave, recommended. Besides, the whole point to reducing carbs is eliminating the sweeteners that drive blood sugar. Once on this lifestyle eating well becomes so natural that sweeteners are not longer appealing and definitely not tempting.
I have been eating this way for years. Having thrived following to Traumatic Brain Injuries I can totally atest tot he fact that his way of eating leads to better brain health which, of course. creates better overall well being.
I recommend this book to people wanting to understand the Paleo Diet and why switching to it will only improve their health.
