I get a lot of Paleo books, and this is one of the really great ones.
I prepare a bunch of these on Monday, and then I have healthy, yummy, easy snacks all week so I don’t succumb to unhealthy (but let’s admit, delicious) packaged food or fast food.

Another great Paleo snack book out there is:
Paleo Snacks: 101 Quick, Easy, Delicious and Healthy Paleo Snack Recipes (Paperback)

Here are the recipes from the first couple of chapters:

Chapter 1: Paleo Snack Bars No-Bake Fruit and Nut Bars
Moist and Chewy Sweet Potato Bars
    Coconut Key Lime Bars
    Banana Walnut Bars
    Banana-Cocoa Swirl Bars
    Pumpkin Spice Bars

    Chapter 2: Paleo Protein Snacks
    Spicy-Sweet Chicken on a Stick
    Marinated Zucchini-Salmon Bites
    Hawaiian-Style Beef Jerky
    Savory Venison Jerky
    Chicken-Cherry Wraps with Paleo Mayo
    Paleo-Happy Deviled Eggs
    Spicy Cucumber-Tuna Bites
    Broiled Sardines

I really enjoyed this book. It gave me a quick understanding of the advantages of `going caveman’ with the Paleo diet plus lots of easy-to-follow recipes for delicious between-meal snacking. It also helped me understand why gluten is so unhealthy for the body – and so addictive. And I now know that `gluten-free’ packaged foods may not be a whole lot better due to the flavor-enhancers added. The author explains that, “Paleo is one of the easiest diets on the planet to follow: just remember to keep it real. If it’s processed, artificial, or otherwise not directly from the earth, don’t eat it.” Guess it’s time to cut back on my favorite organic corn chips in favor of the author’s oven-fried sweet potato chips and spiced kale chips.

In his cookbook Paleo Snacks: A Paleo Snack Cookbook Full of Healthy Paleo Snack Foods, author John Chatham continues his series of acclaimed cookbooks that are both informative and chock-full of healthy recipes. As the title suggests, this one is geared towards preparing a wide variety of different snack foods that are both tasty and good for you.

In the first section of the book, Chatham presents six chapters worth of delicious snack recipes covering everything from sweet snacks to smoothies, low-calorie options, savory protein snacks for all the meat-lovers out there, and even a whole chapter on kid-friendly snacks that are perfect for school lunches or just hanging around the house.

Chatham then goes on to explain the basics of what the “Paleo” diet is and how it can benefit snack-eaters of all ages. As always, Chatham’s writing is presented in an informative and clear manner that makes the recipes he presents as fun to read about as they are to make!
