    I got this book because I had started to have an assortment of common, small but irksome health issues. I remembered my Grandmother swore by apple cider vinegar. Then I ran into an elderly neighbor who took apple cider vinegar. I got the book, read it, and decided to give cider a try. I have been on the regimen for several weeks now. My digestive problems have subsided noticeably. This book is short, to the point and helpful if you want to try an apple cider regimen. There is nothing in this that will hurt you and a lot that might help the small things. It may not cure cancer, though cider does contain antioxidents. Cider tonic is an acquired taste so give yourself some time. Read the book and go for it.

    Shae Harper has written many useful books on health and diet and cleansing and detoxifying – in other words, approaching good health through good food. Here she takes us on an Apple Cider Vinegar journey through the concept (fermentation through acetification of fruit juices through the action of bacteria and yeasts) and manufacture (even at home), the enhanced nutrition and lower calories between a fresh apple and tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, and health benefits due to the intersection of dietary fats and vinegar and through the complete understanding of the acid/alkaline balance of our bodies – especially as pertaining to weight control.

    Once into the health aspects of the uses of Apple Cider Vinegar, Harper reveals the specific medicinal aspects of the magic tonic in treating allergies, arthritis, asthma, acne, blood pressure, burns, cancer, and yes – even aging! – and many more. It is an eye-opener of a chapter. Not only as taken internally for the cascade of disease she takes us through, but she also offers the information about using the vinegar for bathing, hair care, feet and legs and oral health.

    Then comes the cookbook with uses of Apple Cider vinegar for preparing foods – and not just healthy foods but satisfying and interesting foods such as Walnut Pate, German Potato Salad, Couscous Salad, Soups (eg, Quick Gazpacho), Main Courses (such as Spinach with Quinoa and Chickpeas), Salads and salad dressings and even desserts (remember Vinegar Pie?). And the book closes with some drinks to prepare with vinegar including her Special Detox Drink.

    If all this sounds as though it belongs in the `too good to be true’ side of the brain, then think again. Shae Harper delivers the research data in the manner in which she writes about this magic solution for better health.     I was amazed to discover more uses for apple cider vinegar. I bought unpasteurized acv at my local store, which is fantastic. I knew acv was multipurpose, however, I didn’t realize that consuming a couple of acv tonics a day is extremely beneficial to my health. I have already suggested this book to a friend.
